The first and foremost step to a beautiful smile is taking care of your teeth and a thorough examination by your cosmetic dentist or dentist. The dentist will be able to determine your oral health and any existing oral issues can be addressed and corrected before cosmetic work begins. The term “oral health” is often misleading. People think “oral health” is a beautiful smile with perfectly shaped and aligned white teeth. But it is important to understand that there is much more to “oral health” than just a smile. It is a gateway to overall health.

It is the job of the dentist to ensure that your smile is healthy and only then he would enhance its appearance. You can get a smile makeover done that includes a beautiful smile, whitening and perfectly aligned teeth. Generally people with stained, yellow and discolored teeth go for whitening of the teeth to get a good and confident smile. You feel confident if your teeth are white and people are likely to treat you differently, even in subtle ways. There are different ways to make an ordinary smile look stunning. Some of the ways for a beautiful smile are described below:

Overlapped and crooked teeth can be straightened. Many people have extended teeth and with some cosmetic work by the dentist the teeth can be aligned.

Broken, chipped, or worn teeth can be repaired. To repair such teeth dental bonding can be considered. Plastic and materials known as composite resins are used to fill the cavities.

Gaps between teeth can be reduced with the help of braces.

Missing teeth can be replaced.

Natural looking restoration can be an alternative for unattractive metal fillings.

Stained, yellow or discolored teeth can be whitened.

Gum line can be recontoured to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile.

Restoration is a process of replacing or restoring a missing or damaged tooth. There are different methods of tooth restorations.

Fillings: Filling is one of the processes of dental restoration. Teeth can be filled with gold, silver or alloys.

Crowns: Dental crowns are used to restore the shape and size of the tooth. It is a tooth shaped cap that is placed over the visible portion of the tooth above the gums. It also helps in strengthening the tooth.

Bridges: Dental bridges help in bridging the gap between one or more missing teeth. A false tooth can be implanted with the natural teeth and is called a pontic. It can be made from gold, silver amalgam, porcelain or alloys.

Implants: This is a replacement tooth root and is a small metal piece placed into the bone socket. A crown then covers the metal piece. It helps in reshaping of the teeth and replacing a missing tooth.

Dentures: These are removable replacements for missing teeth. A denture can be a complete denture or a partial denture. A complete denture replaces all teeth whereas a partial denture consists of some natural teeth and the rest of the teeth are false.

Rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping, is another commonly performed technique in which the nose is reshaped, altered, or straightened for both reconstructive and aesthetic reasons. This procedure is often used to correct breathing problems in the nasal region as well. There are two options for the incision in this type of plastic surgery. There is open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty is performed by making a small incision across the columella, between the nostrils, in addition to incisions on the inside of your nose.

This surgery is often performed in the most complicated cases. In the case of closed rhinoplasty the incision is inside of the nose helping to promote a speedier recovery as well as reducing the amount of swelling. Rhinoplasty can change the shape of your nose by recontouring the underlying cartilage and bone into the desired shape. Plastic surgeons today have the ability to make your nose shorter, longer, thinner, and straighter. Most of the incision in nasal surgery are made internally so there is no visual scarring on the exterior nasal cavity.

For most Nose surgery operations the patient will experiences potential side effects consisting of temporary swelling, bruising around eyes, nose and headaches. The patient may also experience some bleeding and stiffness. In addition there are other associated risks with this procedure that include the risk of infection, burst blood vessels could cause permanent red spots, and incomplete results could require additional surgery. The length of operation usually runs 1 to 2 hours or more. Patients are given a general or local anesthesia, with sedation. Rhinoplasty procedures are routinely outpatient.

For most patients the recovery time needed varies with the activity. Patients may return to work in approximatly1 to 2 weeks. Those involved in sports or other physical activities will be able to resume these activities in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. Individuals are advised to limit exposure to the sun for several weeks afterwards. The final results of the procedure may take up to a year to be fully realized in its appearance.

Here is a set of regulations passed by the Food and Drug Administration in regards to silicone breast implants:
1. Replacement or revision of saline implants
2. Tuberous breast deformity
3. Congenital breast reconstruction
4. Breast augmentation to the opposite breast for symmetry
5. Augmentation with a breast lift (mastopexy)
6. Severe asymmetries of the breast
7. Breast cancer reconstruction
Breast enlargement is, no doubt, one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. However, many women wonder if the breast augmentation procedure is worth it, especially on a long run. Some fear that the breast implants will not last and they will begin to leak. Although this does happen, it is a very rare phenomenon. Most women who have gone through breast enlargement surgery didn’t experience any problems with their silicone breast implants.

From a very early age, women are subjected to ideals regarding the size and shape of their breasts. Modern media – glossy magazines and movies - tell us how big and what shape they should be. Many women consider and eventually have breast implants in order to conform to these opinions but while there are advantages to having this done there are still some concerns and many questions that need answering.

Not all cosmetic surgery is carried out on women who simply want bigger breasts. Many face psychological problems because the size or shape of each breast is different. Breast cancer sufferers consider breast-rebuilding treatment to try and get their lives back on track.

Gone are the days where the only surgical procedure available for women was breast enlargements. There are numerous surgical procedures for various areas of the body although the breasts remain a firm favourite for women. You can now have breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, breast implants, a breast lift and a breast reduction.

You should always consider every view and get the full facts before you consider any surgery, least of all cosmetic surgery.

For most forms of breast implants a small incision of approximately 1.5 inches is made in the fold under the breast, around the areola or in the underarm. For saline implants, a pocket is then created and the implant inserted. Once inserted the implant is then inflated with the saline solution. There are various breast enlargement procedures available, but silicone breast implants are still the number one favorite. In the United States alone, over 200,000 women may have breast augmentation surgery each year. This cosmetic surgery procedure has become very safe and convenient for most women who desire larger breasts.

The procedure itself usually takes between an hour and two hours and dressing and bandaging is worn for the proceeding 24 to 48 hours. After this a support bra is worn for around 3 weeks although patients can normally be up and moving within 24 hours of the operation. It is advised that strenuous activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for about a month after surgery.

You will suffer bruising and swelling around the breasts that should disappear with time, and also a firmness in the breasts that will disappear with time. You will more than likely feel a little discomfort for several days following the procedure; if this discomfort continues you should consult the clinic where you underwent the operation.

Everybody wants to look beautiful and forever young but as we grow older, loss of the skin’s softness is expected resulting in wrinkles and signs of aging. One way to slow down this visible aging process is through cosmetic therapies and injections. Currently there are a lot of products in the market that promise you a younger and attractive appearance.

Every day we watch a lot of advertisements of cosmetic treatments, which give assurance of their products. Mostly what we expect from these products is that they will remove our wrinkles and folds that look unattractive. Among these products most popular are collagen, Restylane and BOTOX® injections. These injections have their own applications and characteristics. Let’s focus our attention on BOTOX® in this article.

The botulinum toxin has been known for centuries but it has been appreciated recently with the discovery of BOTOX®. BOTOX® was introduced thirty years ago. Earlier it was injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes of those patients who were suffering from crossed eyes.

BOTOX® (Botulinum a toxin) injection is a method to recover your smooth and soft look. BOTOX® injection is a FDA (Food and Drug Association) approved treatment. It is a purified protein, which is derived from bacterium clostridium botullinum, a toxin that can also cause food poisoning. BOTOX® is a simple and speedy treatment. According to ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) BOTOX® is the fastest growing treatment for wrinkles.

Wrinkles originate with the over usage of facial muscles. BOTOX® is injected into targeted muscle with a fine needle. BOTOX® simply inactivates the muscles that produce wrinkles. BOTOX® blocks the release of acetylcholine chemical, which transmits nerve signals to contract the muscle. So, it is a mechanism of muscle inactivation. This process weakens the muscles that produce frown lines. With BOTOX® these lines are smoothed out and become almost invisible within a week.

BOTOX® mainly targets crows feet, frown lines, laugh lines and forehead lines. It is injected in small doses. It is a fast therapy. BOTOX® has been used for years in treating a variety of patients. BOTOX® injection can also be used for migraine headaches. It also can decrease sweating on palms, under arms and at the hairline.

It is advised to the BOTOX®-injected patients that they adhere to a few guidelines and implications before and after the treatment if they want optimal results. After the injection, ice can be applied to the targeted area that will reduce any swelling and discomfort. Injection procedure takes only about ten minutes and after that patients can return to their routine life without delay. Do not massage the treated area as this may cause bruising. BOTOX® cannot be used during pregnancy, breastfeeding or on neurology patients.

If too much toxin is injected or if it is injected at a wrong place in the body, a droopy eyelid muscle may result that lasts for a week or more. BOTOX® effects last for 3-6 months and it causes minimal pain. Definitely this product is good for those people who want to change their look and want a wrinkle free, smooth and clear appearance with out full blown surgery.

BOTOX® is a registered trademark of Allergan, Inc.
